Creative Therapies have a highly specialist board. In addition to strengths in relation to finance and governance there is a heavy weighting toward clinical and social care expertise. This ensures that our projects work to the highest standards of clinical practice and are safe and sustainable.
Dr Anne Greer, Chair
Anne is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Anne trained in Edinburgh from 1986-1991. She took her first consultant post in Ayrshire in 1993 and moved to Glasgow in 1998 and is currently the consultant at the North Glasgow Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team. Anne has a special interest in psychodynamic group therapy with young people and has supported Creative Therapies since 1999 when one of our therapists joined her team providing a day service for young people with a psychotic illness. Anne plays a major part in thinking about the clinical governance of the work undertaken by Creative Therapies.
Dr Andrew Dawson
Andrew is a Child Psychotherapist working in the West Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership. Andrew and previously trained as Dramatherapist and was at the forefront of developing the arts therapies in the West of Scotland during the 1990s. Andrew originated the idea of Creative Therapies and created the company in 1996. He has many years experience of working across health, social work, education and the voluntary sector. He has been on the Board of Creative Therapies since 2000 and is deeply committed to developing services that are accessible to vulnerable and excluded children and young people.
Louis Skehal
Louis is a former Social Worker and Community Worker and retired as Head of Service (Community Care) in 2006. Louis also lectured at University of Glasgow for two years and has contributed to the development of best practice with Community Care Works based at Glasgow and latterly Strathclyde Universities. After retiral Louis has carried out consultancy work for the Scottish Parliament with the Joint Improvement Team. Now Louis spends most of his time as a mature student at Glasgow School of Art. Louis brings expertise in financial management, governance of the organization, the practicalities of making fruitful partnership with other agencies and a belief in the importance of making interventions for children accessible and meaningful.
Dr Karen Ferguson
Karen is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist working with young people and families within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. She has a long-standing interest in creative ways of working. In addition to her experience as a consultant in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team. Karen has expertise in research and audit of clinical work. One of Karen’s special interests has been in children and young people with oppositional and defiant behaviour/ conduct disorder, and providing interventions that are meaningful and effective, including work with families, social workers and teacher.
Development Manager – Sarah Harwood
Sarah joined Creative Therapies in 2006 as part-time administrator bringing a marketing diploma and wide range of skills from working in Capgemini and Neutrogena for over 16 years. Sarah’s role has developed and takes a lead role in income generation and project sustainability with a focus on the company’s fundraising strategy. Responsible for the overall running of the company, financial management, marketing and promoting the company’s training programme, to ensure the successful delivery of the Creative Therapies vision.
